Summer Reading,ENTRY FOUR,Catching Fire

My first introduction to reading this book came from watching the previous movie of Hunger Games.People started telling me how they became kind of dissapointing about the movie because the book included so much more details and interesting characteristics that made you see the actual story from a different and more realistic perspective. So in order to become more involved in the actual roots of these writtings,I didn´t and haven´t actually seen Catching Fire because I wanted to wait to finish the book before seeing the movie and then being able to compare both.So now that I got to finish the book I will have a better idea of the difference. It also called a lot my atention because, people started telling me how they finished both Hunger Games and Catching Fire in an amount od two to three days, they didnt do anything rather than eat and read,so ofcourse that was one of my major factors in wanting to read this book. New things are always the shinniest, and the story Hunger Games was a really huge impact in many readers waiting for something different and unique. I did find a really strong connection with Katniss because there has been many situations in my life where people just expect me to accomplish everything and overtake any problem, they expect so many things out of you as easily as as if they were, and they´re not. That was one thing, but I also felt connected because even though she was forced to do something and make people believe it,it wasn't actually what she supported and agreed with.Actually, it was the total opposite, but she had to stick with it because she really didn´t have any other choice. I would really recommend this book to the readers who like action, specifically strong survivol. Also people who like justice and doing things wright, because in this story, after all of the years of a stable tradition impossed by the upper powers, people have enough and decide. They decide that in order to establish and save their lifes, they are willing to sacrifice some of their owns to achieve what they want. And although they don´t get exactly how it was planned, together, they do begin the start of the overthrow.

Summer Reading,ENTRY THREE,Catching Fire

Everything just seems unreal for Katniss, she is loosing her sanity, control over herself, she is letting White get into her mind, everyday she fears for her life and her loved ones, she can´t find a way to please the Capitol but secretly guide a well-deserved revolt over the government which´s imposed unfairly and unhealthily for so long and when she can´t see things getting any worse, there is a special announcement appearing on the television. The twenty-fifth anniversary of the Hunger Games, celebrating the allegiance of the twenty five. Each twenty-fifth celebrated anniversary included a special content in those future games,as an example, last twenty-fifth anniversary, the number of tributes were doubled, these were the games in which Haymitch won and developed his trauma and drinking problem afterwards.Mr.White,who was giving this special announcement pulled out a envelope,an envelope which read that this year the games would be provided by special tributes, not new.But old.And who could be better identified with an experience from the ring than someone who already was in there, somebody who came alive from there, the Hunger Games´s ex-victorious tributes. It took a while,a while for Katniss to understand what´d happen.Everything she was going through, every concern she had, totally cleared off her mind.Until she understood. She was going back to the ring.To the place were she fought, killed and marked the beggining of why she was troubled until now. When I discovered the point where the winners had to go back,Katniss wasn´t the first person on my mind, but Haymitch. How could he go back to the place that left a mark so big in his life and come out alive?but I am hoping he will stay out and Peeta will go in,it would actually be better because Peeta stands a better chance of surviving. I felt really dissapointed, but not dissapointed in the way of how the story goes, but in the way in which Katniss and Peeta did so much and survived so much to have to go back, and not just face any tributes, but the strongest who made it alive before them, and these tributes weren´t inspired to survive previously as Katniss and Peeta, from a crazy idea. But actually kill the last of each of the tributes who stepped in the arena with them. I am really not sure anymore what chance could Peeta and Katniss stand against the rest of the other tributes. And also think about, what conditions are the other tributes in?remembering what Haymitch said about many of them loosing it after getting out alive.

Summer Reading,ENTRY TWO,Catching Fire

When talking about the complexity of each of the characters and what does each of them desire is a bit complicated, especially for the love triangle going on with Katniss,Peeta and Gale, because they can´t even find the time to figure out in which relationship/feeling stage they´re on thanks to that they are worrying everyday about simply staying alive and hoping Mr.White will have patience and wont do anything, yet. Katniss loves Gale, and that´s something she´s absolutely sure about, but Peeta is literally her job and what she holds on to so president White doesn´t kill her, besides she even has to focus on their so called "wedding" and convincing the rest of the public about it when not even she is convinced. She also mainly seeks for the revolts to stop because it can bring her problems and danger but she is generally all in favor of these revolts and opposition of the Capitol´s misstreatment over the years, and she silently wants to take advantage of the fact that she is actually like a symbol of evolution now,but does nothing because of her agreement with Mr.White and saving her skin. Peeta loves Katniss and genuinly understands she loves Gale, but he also holds on to her like Mr.White indicated, pretending a young and true love he wishes he actually did have.He becomes also very tense because of the situation with the Capitol and them, luckily him rather than Katniss has a special ability of satisfying the public and entertaining them meanwhile. Gale loves Katniss also as mentioned and he is looking after Katniss´s family until now, when he got whipped by an officer of peace and is severly damaged. He hates the Capitol and their unjust government towards people, killing them of hunger and work,Katniss even fears he may start a riot of his own and get himself killed someday. Haymitch does what best he can to guide Katniss and Peeta through this hard situation, especifically telling them what to do,what to say and what not to,but has gotten even more into his drinking problem that makes him not as useful. There is a topic I have been able to find in this stage of the book where it appeals to most of the characters in the book and is very true to me because when it comes to survival and fear it gets the best of humans,"Life over Love".I feel that this topic goes well with the happenings because the situation is so tense and so complicated and everyone is scared that they forget about what is really important or what they really want, everyone is just afraid and hoping the worst never comes, they´ve even gone to the limits of bringing up a wedding from which it isn´t of both´s person´s consent. The structure of the book fits a really discriptive narration that makes readers even feel as they were witnesses in the story,(including myself). It emphasizes a lot of worry in readers because they focus on explaining the trouble and danger characters could be up-fronted to if something special were to happen.

Summer reading, ENTRY ONE,Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

As from my previous experience with a Suzanne Collin´s book,Hunger Games,I was expecting another chapter of exciting and heart-racing adventures where Katniss Everdeen, the book´s main character has to bear with Mr. White´s(president and creator of the Hunger Games)hatred, and also decide between the life she wants to have, which would be next to Peeta, the village Baker´s son and her partner and survivor during the hunger games where both of them developed a protecting and loving relationship, or next to Gale, her best friend for many years who which she has always secretly loved and seen as more than a friend and with who she is planning to escape onto the woods, ofcourse accompanied from Gale´s family and Katniss´s sweet little sister,Prim and her mom.In this set,Haymitch,Katniss´s and Peeta´s previous game´s mentor also forms a really important part of their lives, you can see he still hasn´t overcome his drinking problem which started out of his experience in the ring. Katniss becomes very agitated and stressed because there are a lot of situations that worsen her agreements with Mr.White, including that he went to her house to threaten her and force her to make the public forget about revolution riots over the Capitol,he wants Katniss to make empashis on her "relationship" with Peeta and "Young Love" hoping that could probably entertain people´s minds and forget about the revolts tension. But is she doesn´s proceed as said, the president said he would make any move to threaten her loved ones, including Gale. In this precise moment Peeta and Katniss are on a tour around the 12 districts, attending to capitol parties and sharing condolences with the previous fallen tribute´s families, including Rue´s.But there has been a problem in this district because an old man followed Katniss´s previous hand sign and whistled a tone which would appear to be as the beggining tone of oppposition, and for this the old man was murdered infront of the public´s eyes to show oppression from the peace soldiers. Katniss beggins to loose it and afterwards agrees with Hyamitch and Peeta to control anything that happens infront of the public´s eye,to avoid any more problems, there are enough until now.It makes me really nervous about their situation because things are getting worse each time and this makes everyone walk through a thinner rope, but especially Mr.White, where is his patience willing to go?and how long will it take for him to take charges? Compared to the Hunger Games movie,it still surprises me how each time there is a new scene or happening that makes things more difficult and seems harder to get out of,and although it would be hard to compare both hunger games and catching fire because they are two different stages,I appreciate more the narration and details the book provides me,it helps me get a better idea of the whole story and it makes me feel almost like a witness. :)

Every single time I read a bigger chunk of my story,my head just revolves again because more kind of totally different information comes along. Now I concluded by the continuation that Cam is acting really weird, like if he had known Luce before,he quotes "But you use to..." referring to an act Luce did,he was kind of referring to something she had done in the past and that he had seen.Cam definitely was put or entered the same school as Luce and there's something his person shares with all of the things that happen to Luce, including the shadows. I also realized how much in love Luce is with Cam everyday more, till the situation were she messed up, by accidentally asking if Cam was dating another girl to Cam's best friend. You must be really desperate to ask your crush's best friend for him.I think this totally reflects the desperation but not in a bad way but in a cute way.I am grabbing a really good sense to this story it can even change my mood sometimes and I really enjoy it.

It seems to me that every time I progress my lecture in the story, things get tangled up in my head even more, because every time there is a new fact or happening that appears, it changes the whole situation. For example,it seems to be that the presence of Daniel,Luce´s mysterious crush/guy has something to do with the vanishing of the frightening shadows that follow and attack Luce everywhere she goes,What would Daniel have to do with Luce´s shadows if she had that happening even before she entered Sword & Cross Reformatory School,it seems really weird for me that Daniel could have something to do with Luce´s reasons for entering this school, but I sincerely can´t wait to find out...To testify my believe,Luce quotes in one of the vanishing-shadow moments,"It was like someone had taken a vacuum and cleared out all the grit(shadows) from the hall".This really makes me think in a diversity of solutions or predictions to my story. I kind of got sad and disappointed in another way because despite the fact that Luce had Cam,another cute pretender behind her, looking for the perfect moment to conquer her,I preferred a hundred times,Daniel. And I mean I preferred Daniel in the past because Luce discovers Daniel could be seeing someone else secretly, this is because she manages to get out of a party they were throwing and sneak on the moment Daniel i speaking to this other girl called Gabbe.I mean to say that I am kind of disappointed because even tho Daniel treats Luce in a mean and strange form,it is really romantic and mysterious.

After all this time, and after all my anxious wait in this literal journey,I could finally understand the clues that "Luce" from the book was sending to our audience,I figured out her reason to be were she is,in a inmate school filled with all kinds of messed-up children,Luce seems to share a special gift, but as it is,it doesn´t really have much of special,it´s quite macabre and starting to freak me out.She has the ability of seeing and feeling special kinds of shadows that mess with her in the environment and it seems that she is not the only one. While Luce entered the library and thought this would be one of her "escape and heavenly peace places",she was wrong because the moment she stepped in the library was the moment she felt the shadows crossing over her head, but she got so distracted afterwards because the presence of Daniel distracted and hypnotized her completely, everything happened so fast she even ended talking with him before he blew her off,but while they had a "chat" look saw movement from these scary shadows from which she couldn´t avoid freaking out and acting weird.Of course, from her reaction,Daniel, instantly felt something as well and asked her,"What did you see Luce"(Kate,pg.98),from which you can obviously tell,he knows something, and know their on the same page. Luce becomes every time closer to this mysterious boy, from which Molly told Luce she´d better stay away,so as well as Luce has her own secrets to worry about, she´s not the only one hiding something macabre and weird. As much as frightening this seems to me,it´s ridiculously romantic, and nothing could be better for me,than a good combination of both.I am enjoying this book so much to the point that I can´t leave it for a second, when from the beginning I didn´t even want to start it,it's so good!

Predictions
After the events happened with Luce and her apparent new friend,I predict that Luce will become really good friends with her, though I am not so sure about this new girl because she apparently came out of nowhere and just helped Luce, and this is really weird because this is a really weird school, but we will see in the future.

It also seemed really weird the way Rolland welcomed Luce to his dorm and talked in a flirty way,so I predict Rolland may be able to try something with Luce, until he discovers her secret love crush on Daniel.I am also afraid to predict the moment Luce has to walk in the room and see her classmates again after experiencing the meatloaf situation,i don't know but I have the feeling she will be laughed at or told something about that embarrassing moment.

Luce is now affronting the bad situation she has just been victim from, her humiliating meatloaf-spill in front of the whole school, and she is very concerned about what will be her title as the new girl in school...meat-loaf chick?meat-a-plam?I would definitely feel bad if I were in her shoes, but later good because she actually got the chance to meet a really nice girl, and "powerful friend to have at the school",so I guess it gives me less to worry about for her, except for the fact that Arriane is still with the nurse and Luce hasn't been able to see her,I hope she is fine and will soon be able to talk to Arriane about what happened in the cafeteria.

In the book there is a moment of excitement for me,from this part that I recently read,at the moment Luce arrives to her room, she finds a note from Arriane that says to go meet her at her room, but by the time she gets there, she notices Arriane is not home, and she found this out because a door slightly opened and Roland,"Daniel's friend" told her,he seemed very nice but the exciting part was that Roland's room was actually next to Luce's Room so this would mean Luce would have total connection with Daniel anytime he would go see Roland to his room, this makes things more exciting and nerve-racking.

I am really enjoying the emotion this book brings me.

I am becoming even more and more interested in this book because you can tell that the school were Luce´s at and the children with which she is studying with hide a world of "secrets",and I'm dying to figure out.But I am also feeling really bad for Luce,I know it´s weird to get involved emotionally with a character but,I am feeling sorry and bad...for Luce!Telling whether on what i´ve read, which is explaining her first day at school, she narrates a kind of "fight" she had with a girl,"Molly".She spilled meatloaf all over Luce in front of the whole cafeteria, including Daniel! She got out of there and went to the bathroom,it was there were she emotionally exploded and started crying,it made me even feel worse when she started telling what she would do if she could;get out of the school, into her car,out of the parking lot, back to her home, and the thought that she has to go back and support these mean kids who's school was actually given a really mean and trashy nick name(which I cannot say because they may be strong words for the readers). The only good thing is that, there actually was a girl named Penn who followed Luce into the bathroom to help her wash the meatloaf out of her hair, and was really kind, she told Luce many things about survival in this school which will hopefully help Luce now,I wouldn´t want her to pass through more bad moments.
